Mr. Everette Owen Carter, Jr., 63, of Buckeye Road, Smoaks, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, January 16, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at his residence while under the care of Agape Hospice and cousin and caregiver, Tammy Wolf.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock Saturday morning, January 18, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Ehrhardt. The Reverend Kevin Stroop and The Reverend Mike Lupo officiating. Interment will follow in Little Swamp United Methodist Churchyard, War Eagle Road, Smoaks.
Born December 13, 1951, a native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Everette Owen Carter and the late Myrtice Aliene Warren Carter. He served his country faithfully in the South Carolina National Guard and was the retired owner of Owen's Paint and Body Shop in Ehrhardt. He was a member of Little Swamp United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the Little Swamp Volunteer Fire Department. Owen will be fondly remembered for his love of hunting and fresh water fishing as well as his avid passion for Nascar Motor Sports having been a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Tony Stewart.
Surviving are: his daughter, Tonya Carter of Smoaks; and a granddaughter, Hannah Renee Martin. There is a sister, Sherri George and her two children, Pressley George and Holden George.
