Mr. Otis Herbert Hadwin, Sr., age 75, entered into rest Sunday afternoon, March 15, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Brunson under the care of Amedisys Hospice.

Born December 17, 1944, in Ridgeland, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Grover Wilson Hadwin and the late Lottie Priester Hadwin.  He served in the South Carolina National Guard having been assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division.   Otis knew hard work and a strong work ethic.  He was twice retired in his life, having first retired as a pipefitter and welder and secondly retired from the Town of Hampton as Building Inspector.  He was a faithful member of Open Arms Fellowship in Hampton, where he had for many years played the bass guitar.  He possessed an extraordinary skill with woodworking, making gun cabinets, cedar chests, fishing rods, and clothing bureaus for his family.  In his earlier years, he like many others, enjoyed fishing and hunting.   Otis will always be remembered for the love he possessed for his family and the Lord.  He was truly a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, who daily expressed by his love that his family meant everything to him.

Surviving are: his wife of fifty-five years, Mrs. Elizabeth Dempsey Hadwin; two children, Otis Herbert “Odie” Hadwin, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Brunson and Melanie Elizabeth Hadwin Crews and her husband Windell of Hampton; four grandchildren, Dakota Hadwin (Tiffany Cooler), Dalton Hadwin (Syndni Crews), Mallory Crews (Michael Hazel), and Houston Crews; and two sisters, Leah Hadwin Tuten of Scotia and Reba Hadwin Robertson of Summerville; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Grover Hadwin.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, March 18, 2020, from Open Arms Fellowship, 402 Hoover Street North, Hampton.  The Reverend James Porter and The Reverend R. P. Hodge officiating.  Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Church Cemetery, Brunson.
