Mr. Ulmer was born in Colleton County on September 10th, 1934 and was the son of the late Benjamin Gary Ulmer and Bridie Breland Ulmer. He served his country in the United States Air Force, where he served as Military Police until his Honorable Discharge in 1962. He was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Ruffin.
Mr. Ulmer enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He could often be found at home riding his gator, checking on the fish in his pond, or sitting in his favorite swing in the backyard.
Surviving to carry on Mr. Ulmer’s legacy, along with his wife are: daughters: Cornelia Ulmer Mills and Wanda Ulmer Hiers both of Allendale; step-children: Bob Buchanan and wife Wendy of Hampton and Shelia Lowery of Anderson; brothers: George Ulmer of Brunson, Keith Ulmer of Ruffin, and Terry Ulmer (Mary) of Hampton; and sister: Gay Nettles of Ruffin.
