Mr. Norman Bowers, 92, entered into eternal rest Saturday, April 26, 2014 at The Veterans Victory House in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort.
Mr. Bowers was born November 21, 1921 in Walterboro and was a son of the late Weyman L. Bowers, Sr. and Margaret Smoak Bowers. He served his country faithfully in the Unites States Army and then in the United States Air Force Reserves. After serving in World War II, he worked as a Purchasing Agent at the Beaufort Naval Hospital, where he retired after 40 years. Mr. Bowers attended Living Word Church, loved fishing and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed writing poetry and had published several articles in the Post and Courier.
Surviving are: his sons, Charles N. Bowers and his wife Brenda, Richard W. Bowers, and Gary V. Bowers and his wife Patti, all of Norway; sister, Eva Thielke of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Kelly Griffith and her husband William, Kimberly Smith and her husband Ryan, Amanda Fanning, Franklin R. Fanning, and Dixie L. Hickman; and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Weyman Bowers, Jr. and Lanier Bowers; and a sister, Nadine Ferguson.
