Mrs. Nina Mae Benton Blewer, 81, of Ruffin, entered into rest Thursday evening, August 12, 2021 at Prisma Health Richland. She was the wife of the late Hubert Blewer.
Born November 22, 1939 in Colleton County, she was the daughter of Lewis E. Benton and Allie Mae Avant Benton. She was a retired Quality Control Inspector from Smoaks Manufacturing. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and formerly a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she was active with the WMU. She and Mr. Hubert loved music and will always be remembered for the many “Old Country Singings” they hosted. She loved her family, reading and traveling, and especially loved her dog, “Zippy”.
Surviving are: her children, Yvonne Wilson and her husband Ryan of Eastover and Anita Bowers and her husband Donald of Ruffin; brother, Lynn Carson and his wife Frances of Crossville, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Andrew Wilson and Joshua Wilson. She was preceded in death by her son, Theron Arthur Blewer, who passed away in 1977.
Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Thursday, August 19, 2021 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.
