Mr. Lawrence Glover, affectionately known as "Neil", age 65, of downtown Columbia, a longtime resident of Walterboro, entered into his eternal rest Saturday morning, April 14, 2012, at Hospice of Charleston in Mount Pleasant after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, April 22, 2012, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro, with The Reverend Dr. Zane Brown officiating.
The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony in the Harbiston Stateroom of the mortuary that afternoon.
Mr. Glover was born November 2, 1946, in Walterboro, and was a son of the late Fletcher Herndon Glover and the late Margaret Padgett Glover. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force from 1966 until 1977 as an Air Traffic Controller among other various assignments during his enlistment. During his time in service, he was stationed at many bases throughout the United States as well as many countries in the World with his favorite being Phoenix, Arizona. After his time in the military, he had many jobs such as a rodeo circuit bull rider, carpenter, and long distance truck driver. In his last years he was known around the greater Columbia area as the "Birdman". He was seen everywhere with his pet cockatiel known affectionately as "Bird" riding on his shoulder or in his lap.
Mr. Glover is survived by a daughter, Jimi Melissa Glover McCremamin and her husband Tim; four grandchildren, Andy, Aimi, Amannda, and Aaustin all of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Jean Glover Wilson and her husband Charlie of Walterboro; a brother, Joey Glover of Walterboro; a niece, Toni Wilson Skpowski and her husband Louis of Walterboro; and two nephews, Lance Wilson of Walterboro and Travis Glover of Walterboro. There are three great nieces and one great nephew; along with a very dear friend, Gail West of Columbia.
