Myrtle Chesser

Ravenel, South Carolina

Mrs. Myrtle Virginia Lang Chesser, 87, of Ravenel, entered into eternal rest Saturday evening, December 7, 2024, at her residence.  She was the wife of the late Coy Randle Chesser, Sr.

Born July 25, 1937, in Dorchester County, she was a daughter of the late Joe Lee Lang and Daisy Grooms Lang.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ravenel.  She enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her flowers, loved cooking for her family, and loved reading her Bible.  She never met a stranger.  Myrtle was known for her strong will.  She enjoyed living life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her sons, Coy R. Chesser, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Ravenel, Donald R. Chesser, Sr. and his wife Carol of Ravenel; her daughters, Deloris Gunnells of Ravenel, Harriett Burbage and her husband Donnie of Ravenel, and Deborah White and her husband Vance of Charleston; her grandson, Bryan Chesser of Islandton; sisters, Virginia Mixson and Frances Webster, both of Goose Creek; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sons, William Lee Chesser, Sr. and Charles “Joey” Chesser; three grandsons, Donald R. Chesser, Jr., Donald H. Chesser, and Timmy Crosby; and her siblings, Sim Lang, Elias Lang, Mattie Canady, Katherine Matthews, and Roseanne Harmon.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church of Ravenel, Building and Grounds Committee, Post Office Box 129, Ravenel, South Carolina, 29470.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Friday afternoon, December 13, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Ravenel, 5987 Highway 165, Ravenel.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1 o’clock until the hour of service in the church sanctuary.
