Mrs. Myrna Gaynelle Martin Mixson, 61, of 15983 Bells Highway near Lodge, entered into her state of eternal rest Wednesday morning, July 14, 2010, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston surrounded by her loving family.



A celebration of her life will be conducted 3 oclock Saturday afternoon, July 17, 2010, from Community Baptist Church, 15893 Bells Highway, Lodge, with Pastor Alfred Willis and Evangelist Stinnett Ballew officiating. Interment will follow in Community Baptist Church Cemetery, Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin.



Mrs. Mixson was born September 28, 1948 in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Howell Lucas Martin and the late Gladys Strickland Martin. She was a former educator, having taught fourth and fifth grade education at Community Christian Academy, and was currently serving as the secretary of Community Baptist Church. She was a longtime member of Community Baptist Church where her husband is the pastor, and at her church, she was a former Sunday School Teacher and a former member of the church choir, as well as having been active in many aspects of the churchs work. There were many things in life that she enjoyed, but more especially she enjoyed scrap booking, and her grandchildren brought the greatest joy to her life along with providing for them and her family.



Surviving are: her husband of thirty-eight years, Pastor Johnathan Dewrell Mixson; six children, Johnathan Dewrell Mixson, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Islandton, Melanie Jane Mixson of Lodge, David Shane Mixson and his wife Kellie of Islandton, Vincent Bradley Mixson of Lodge, Jennifer Faye Mixson and her husband Doug, Jr. of Ashton, and Meredith Amorelle Mixson Young and her husband Steven of Thomson, Georgia; two brothers, Johnny Martin of Walterboro and Howie Martin of New Jersey; and three sisters, Wydette Ackerman and her husband Tommy of Walterboro, Anne Bridge of Walterboro, and Beth Shaw of Givhans. There are eight grandchildren, as well as her father and mother-in-law, Pastor and Mrs. Johnny Dewrell Mixson of Lodge.
