Murray Hadwin

Mr. Murray Rudolph Hadwin, 69, of 17474 Grays Highway, Grays, entered into his state of eternal rest Friday afternoon, December 11, 2009, at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, following a brief illness while traveling.



Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, December 15, 2009, from Pine Level Baptist Church, 2009 Pine Level Road, Early Branch, with The Reverend Kyle Waddell officiating. Interment will follow in Nixville Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.



Mr. Hadwin was born August 6, 1940, in Nixville, South Carolina and was a son of the late Marion Lee Hadwin and the late Alice Irene DeLoach Hadwin. He was the owner and operator of Murray's Grocery in Grays, a business venture that led him to meet and make many friends whom he loved dearly; and he had also worked for many years with Westinghouse Corporation in Hampton as print puller until he left that capacity to dedicate his full attention to the store he loved. He was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church and was a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Murray loved farming and he faithfully farmed for many years. He loved seeing the crops he put so much time and dedication into grow, as well as he possessed an avid love for his tractors, which in a sense was a true joy of his life.



Surviving are: two children, Jeana Hadwin Lowell and her husband Chandler of Bluffton and Scott Hadwin and his wife Gayle of Varnville; a step-daughter, Paula Floyd of Grays; and a sister, Delores Hurst of Moncks Corner. There are ten grandchildren and one great grandchild that also survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Heidi Ann Hadwin and two grandchildren.
