Mr. Stevie “Steve” McDonald Hiott, 75, of Varnville, passed away on August 15, 2024, at Trident Medical Center. Born August 11, 1949, in Walterboro, he was the son of the late Henry Hiott and Ruth Hoff Hiott.
Steve was a Master Sergeant and mechanic in the United States Air Force and retired after serving his country for many years. He loved to build things and was a great carpenter. In his spare time, he loved to spend time on his boat, fishing, and spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys were his birds, Steve made sure his birdfeeders were always full of food so that his yard was frequented by all different kinds of birds, most importantly hummingbirds.
Surviving are: his wife of twenty-three years, Karen Brunson Hiott of Varnville; children, Johnathan Smith of Varnville, Stephanie Clark and her husband Brooks of Walterboro, Samantha Hiott of Ohio, and Ashley Bryan and her husband Jim of Walterboro; grandchildren, James, Ethan (Amber), Brayden, Payton (Mackenzie), Logan, Megan, and Noah; and his beloved dog, Little Girl Sadie.
Preceding Steve in death are his brothers; Ellis, Bobby, and Don.
A Military Honors Ceremony will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, September 7, 2024, with a time of visitation to follow until 1 o'clock.
