Mrs. Mollie Elizabeth Ross Gadsden, 61, of the Mashawville Community near Walterboro, entered into rest Sunday morning, March 2, 2025, at her residence.
Born July 18, 1963, in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Martha Beckett Ross. She worked for Colleton County where she retired from the Finance Department. Mollie was raised and educated in Walterboro, where she eventually married and had three beautiful children who became her life. Things don’t always turn out the way one expects, but it’s what you make of it that will always leave a positive impact on the lives around you. Throughout the years, Mollie met her current husband, Edward Gadsden and remarried. Mollie was a woman who loved life. She loved the quiet scenery of the Great Smokey Mountains. She loved to bake and paint, but most of all she loved her family. She spent every moment she could with her family and was the finest “Nana”, always attending awards ceremonies, football games, basketball games, NJROTC events, and chaperoning trips. There wasn’t anywhere that Mollie would go that she wouldn’t make a friend. She was a strong fighter until the end. Even in her hard times, she wanted to put a smile on other’s faces.
Surviving are: her husband, Edward L. Gadsden; three daughters, Mandy Pearce (Harry Ross) of Mashawville, Melinda McClendon (Martin Singleton) of Hendersonville, and Stephanie O’Herien (Nick) of Bamberg; two-step-children, Alex Edward Gadsden and Mekayla Paige McQuillan; eight grandchildren, Faith (Josh), Jon Ray (Mariah), Hope, Josh, Lucas Alzo, Jacob, Kiley, and Gabe; two great grandchildren, Gwynevere and Alexandria; and her sister, Marth Ross Hatchell and her children, Chelsea Bonner, Tristan Hatchell, Summer Hatchell, Ali Hatchell, and Amy Hatchell; as well as a large host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
