Mrs. Miriam Martin Wilson, 93, of Savannah Georgia, died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Hospice House of Savannah. She was the widow of the late Paul Henry Wilson. She was a retired bookkeeper.
Funeral services will be held 3 oclock, Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow at the Carters Ford Baptist Church Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation beginning at 2 oclock Saturday prior to the service.
Mrs. Wilson was born December 31, 1919 in Williams, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Stephen Austin Martin and the late Fannie Lee Jones Martin. She was married for 35 years to the late Paul Henry Wilson. She graduated from Ruffin High School in 1936 and later attended Savannah Technical College where she obtained her degree. She had a strong belief in charitable organizations and participated in many including North Shore Animal League, Shriners Childrens Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, World War II Memorial Project and countless others. Her biggest passion in life was her family whom she loved and cherished dearly.
Surviving are: her children, Betty Louise Smoak, of Rincon Georgia, Merry Sussman of Debary, Florida and one son, Paul Wilson Jr. (Toni) of Silver Springs, Maryland. There are 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 8 great- great grandchildren.
