Mrs. Miriam Beach Blocker, 84, of Walterboro, entered into rest Sunday morning, July 25, 2026, while at her son’s residence in Winder, Georgia. She was the loving wife of sixty-one years to the late Mr. Charles Thomas Blocker, Sr.
Born August 19, 1941 in Ruffin, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Albert Beach and the late Margaret Varnadoe Beach. She worked for many years at the Wallgreens in Walterboro before eventually working as a cosmetics consultant at Belks, where she was affectionately known as the “Makup Lady” by the locals of a community she dearly loved. She was a member of Bedon Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union, served with the kitchen committee, and was a member of the Good Cheer Sunday School Class. She will always be remembered for the love she had for her family and others and for her unwavering dedication to shopping.
Surviving are: three children, Chuck Blocker of Honea Path, Patty Blocker Byrd of Walterboro, and Harold Blocker and his wife Karen of Winder, Georgia; a brother, Rex Beach and his wife Nancy; and a sisters, Linda Beach Hickman; grandchildren, Chase Blocker, Kyle Blocker, Cole Blocker (Sierria), Maggee Byrd Ellis (John), Staff Sergeant Tyler Blocker (Kyndell), and Jamie Barrineau (Sharon); great grandchildren, Addison Ellis, Ryleigh Carson Ellis, Claire Grace Blocker, Nicholas Blocker, Scarlett Blocker, Jase Blocker, Lacy Barrineau, and Jake Barrineau. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Johnny Byrd; and a daughter-in-law, Glenda Fleming Blocker.
Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Bedon Baptist Church Building Fund, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, July 31, 2026, from Bedon Baptist Church, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro. The Reverend Nicholas Fox officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 1 o’clock in the church sanctuary.
