Mickey Whittington

Mr. Charles R. “Mickey” Whittington, 78, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Born January 14, 1943 in Charleston, he was the son of the late Henry L. Whittington and Lucille Hyott Whittington.  He retired from Westinghouse/Nevamar, where over the years he worked in many different positions and retired from the sales division.  He was a faithful member of Varnville First Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing in his earlier years but was especially known for his love of woodworking and building anything he could.  Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Surviving are: his wife of 56 years, Catherine Hudson Whittington of Varnville; children, Barry Whittington of Varnville, Jay Whittington (Ann) of Hampton, and Lorretta Smith (James) of Varnville; grandchildren, JJ (Rachael), Jeremy, Dakota, and Brendan; great grandson, Justin Ronald Whittington, Jr.; brother, Harry L. Whittington of Winter Haven, Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Ronald Whittington; and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Whittington.

Graveside services will be held 11 o’clock, Wednesday morning, September 8, 2021 at Sand Hill Cemetery.
