Michael Schaefer

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Michael Charles Schaefer, United States Marine Corps (Ret.), age 79, of Carolton, Georgia, entered into rest Saturday morning, September 19, 2026, at his son’s home in Round O.

Born September 25, 1946 in Portland, Oregon, he was a son of the late Ralph and Kathryn Schaefer. He served faithfully in the United States Marine Corp where he served three tours during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his time in service, he devoted a great deal of his life to animal rescue.

Surviving are: two children, Cody Schaefer of Round O and Christine Schaefer of Alabama; five grandchildren, Holly, Cheyenne, Levi, Cole, and Shelby; and a great grandchild, Topher.
