Michael Keith McQueen (Mr. Mike), 65, of Yemassee, entered into rest Monday morning, March 5, 2018, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Born April 3, 1952, in Greenville County, South Carolina he was the son of Mary Friddle McQueen and the late Robert Lee McQueen, having made the lowcountry of South Carolina his home for the past forty years.  He was a retired construction supervisor from Harden Homes in Hilton Head where he worked faithfully until his retirement.  A Christian and avid outdoorsman, he dearly loved hunting and fishing.  He was a member of the Vardamen Hunting Club and was the proprietor of McQueen’s Fishing Outpost. Taking others fishing, hunting, and teaching his knowledge of the outdoors was his greatest pastime.  He valued the importance of respect, family values , and general principles.   In his younger years, he was a member of Demolay International.  He was member and Past Master of Mountain Springs Masonic Lodge, No. 302 – Ancient Free Masons in the Piedmont area and was also a member of the Scottish Rite in Greenville and Charleston.  Mike was a generous and kindhearted person.  When being diagnosed of his rare form of cancer, he jumped at the opportunity to help others by submitting to numerous experimental cancer treatments.   Thanks to Mr. Mike’s dedication, many milestones in the treatment of cancer has been accomplished.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Mauldin are: his wife of forty years, Margaret Wilson McQueen; a son, Michael Keith McQueen, II of Mauldin; and a sister, Sharon Slagle of Conestee.   There is a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that also survive.
