Burgess Michael Bedingfield, 83, husband of Billie Marsh Bedingfield, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Born in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of Dewey Burgess and Alma Jeanelle Powell Bedingfield. He worked over 50 years in the food service industry serving in multiple capacities including sales manager and vice president. Michael was formerly employed with PYA Monarch, Institution Food House (IFH), US Foods and retired from Sysco Food Service. He received many awards including the Walterboro-Colleton Chamber of Commerce Devoted Community Service Award for his service on the Board of Directors 1990-1993 and as President 1992-1993, Greater Charleston Hotel and Motel Association Award in 1994, Hospitality Association of SC Supplier of the Year in 1998, and SC Restaurant Association Piedmont Area President's Award. He was also owner of Beauty Supply Source and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where he had served as deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Eric Bedingfield (Kim) of Belton, SC; daughters, Angie Kulis (Matt) of Advance, NC and Donna Lamb (Billy Ackerman) of Walterboro, SC; grandchildren, Seth Camp (Samantha), Parker Grant (Alexis), Tucker Bedingfield, Gracie-Tate Bedingfield, Dylan West, Kyle Lamb (Maggie), Charlie Lamb, Maddie Kulis, and Lexi Kulis; great-grandchildren, Zoe Bedingfield, Arabella Bedingfield, and Calli Grant; sister-in-law, Brenda Proveaux; brothers-in-law, Charles Marsh (Deborah), Wade Marsh (Laurie), and Frankie Marsh (Lisa); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by grandson, Josh Bedingfield.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 11, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am in the church. Burial will take place at 4:00 pm at Marsh Cemetery, Clinton Ln., Islandton, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Building Fund, 101 Pisgah Rd., Easley, SC 29642 or Connie Maxwell Children's Ministry, 810 Maxwell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
