Mendell Valentine

Mr. Mendell Valentine, 79, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Thursday evening, December 8, 2022 at his home.

Born March 8, 1943 in Walterboro, he was a son of the late James W. Valentine and Faye Craven Valentine Fender.  He was a retired sawmill supervisor having worked for Georgia Pacific and Upchurch Incorporated.  He was a member of North Walterboro Baptist Church.  He also served as a volunteer with South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

Mendell loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing.  He loved horses and as he was growing up he helped break horses and also raced them.  During the past 12 years of his life during his illness, his brothers were devoted to keeping him out and going.

Surviving are:  his wife of 60 years, Judy Pellum Valentine of Walterboro; children, Angie Valentine Stewart and her husband Mitch of Islandton and Stephen Mendell Valentine and his wife Alicia of Walterboro; brothers, Eddie Valentine and his wife Catherine of Islandton and Wendell Valentine and his wife Brenda of Walterboro; and grandchildren, Brandon Banks, Reagan Valentine, Josh Sobreo, Stephen Valentine, Jr., Mia Valentine, Austin Biering and Heidi Biering.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Monday afternoon, December 12, 2022, at North Walterboro Baptist Church,  2177 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.  Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the: Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, North Walterboro Baptist Church, 2177 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
