Mr. Melvin Robert Burbage, 62, of 579 Songbird Drive, Round O, entered into his state of eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, March 9, 2010, at his residence under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Sunday afternoon, March 14, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend James W. Williams, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mr. Burbage was born March 21, 1947, in Berkley County, South Carolina and was a son of the late Leroy Burbage and the late Marcina Driggers Burbage. He was a carpenter and in earlier years worked with Mr. Stafford Driggers in the heating and air conditioning business. He was a former member of Ridge Baptist Church in Summerville and will be remembered for his love of raising farm animals.
Surviving are: his wife of 26 years, Mrs. Ruth Cox Burbage; a son, Scott Harmon of Summerville; two daughters, Deborah Dunn of LaFayette, Georgia and Elaine Keith of Mineral Wells, West Virginia; a brother, Lonnie Burbage of Cottageville; and two sisters, Sarah B. Burbage Laursen of Round O and Margie Kaars of Orion, Michigan. There are six grandchildren and two great grandchildren that also survive.
