Mrs. Melva Grooms Toomer, age 59, entered into rest Sunday morning, November 2, 2014, at her home in Cottageville.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 oclock Saturday afternoon, November 8, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Dr. John Glenn Creel officiating. Interment will follow in Reeves Cemetery, Sullivans Landing/Parkers Ferry Road, Adams Run.
Born February 23, 1955, in Dorchester County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of Mrs. Joyce Reeves Grooms and the late Mr. Vernie Grooms. She was a manager with National Cash Advance in Walterboro and will be fondly remembered for her love of crafts. Melva possessed a beautiful voice which she enjoyed singing and sharing that special talent with others she loved. She will be fondly remembered for the love she had for others, willing to do for others and always centering her life around her family.
Surviving in addition to her mother of Adams Run are: three children, Allen Grooms and his wife Kathy of Summerville, Denise Creel and her husband Stanley of Cottageville, and Michelle Smoak of Cottageville; two brothers, David Grooms and Tracy Buck Grooms both of Adams Run; and a sister, Brenda Dandridge of Summerville. There are eight grandchildren.
