Biography

Mrs. Melissa Kay Waldrop, 57, of Shrimp Lane in the Mashawville community of Colleton County, entered into her eternal rest Wednesday morning, January 2, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 5, 2013, from Jacksonboro Baptist Church, 14749 Jacksonboro Highway, Jacksonboro. The Reverend Bob Craig officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.

Born August 21, 1955, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, she was a daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Williams Murphy and the late Mr. Farris Dwight Murphy. Having resided in Memphis, Tennessee before making Mashawville their home in 1992, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse being employed by Beaufort Memorial Hospital for the past sixteen years. She was an active member of Jacksonboro Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Choir having sang in the 2012 Christmas Cantata. Melissa possessed a great love for her children and grandchildren always centering her life around her loving family. She was a great southern cook and was very talented with sewing and crocheting.

Surviving in addition to her mother of Mashawville are: her husband of thirty-eight years, Mr. Howard Robert Waldrop, Jr.; three children, Samantha Waldrop Kizer and her husband Dale of Walterboro, Trey Waldrop of Mashawville, and Jordan Waldrop and his wife Jennifer of Mashawville; and one sister, Rebecca Louise Jones and her husband Geoffrey and their daughter Katy of Omaha, Nebraska. There are two grandchildren, Ashley Goettee and Evan Kizer; and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Edna Waldrop of Memphis, Tennessee, as well as a host of loving and wonderful family and friends.
