Mattie Blocker

Mrs. Mattie Lee Hutto Blocker, 88, of Walterboro, died Monday evening, December 1, 2008, at the Saint George Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Mr. James Frank Blocker.



Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Thursday morning, December 4, 2008, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Peniel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Walterboro.



Mrs. Blocker was born October 5, 1920, in Orangeburg County, and was a daughter of the late Lemuel Hutto and that late Mabel Stillenger Hutto. She was a care giver to many in their private homes and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church No. 1 in Walterboro, where she was active in many aspects of the churchs work before her failing health prevented her from what she loved doing best. By those who knew her, she will be remembered for her love of baking and good Southern cooking.



Surviving are: her son, Dennis Andrew Blocker (Patti) of Ravenel; a daughter, Debra B. LaCass of Claremont, New Hampshire; a brother, John D. Hutto of Orangeburg; and two sisters, Ollie Nettles of Cordova and Geneva Baldwin and her husband Carl of Cordova. There are nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren that also survive.
