RUSSELL, Edgar
WALTERBORO – Master Sergeant Edgar Allen Russell, United States Air Force (Ret.), age 87, formerly of Lugoff, entered into rest Monday morning, January 21, 2013, at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Ann Jenet Calloway Russell who died in 2000.

Born November 8, 1925, a native of Woodsboro, Texas, he was the last surviving child of the late Abner H. Russell and the late Myrtle Bergvall Russell. He was dedicated to our country. He served during the ending World War II in the United States Navy. He had a dream to become and fighter pilot and because of that desire, at the beginning of the Korean Conflict, he served in the Army Air Core and then retired from the United States Air Force in 1967 with the distinguished rank of Master Sergeant. After his time in the military he traveled the country with his wife, working and residing in many states across the great land he loved. While in California, he worked for the Tax Bureau and then moved to Texas where they owned and operated and liquor store and consignment shop eventually owning a True Value Hardware Store. His last stop before coming to South Carolina was in Dublin, Georgia where he purchased a farm.

Surviving are: his son, Robert S. Russell and his wife Darlene of Lugoff; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
