Mrs. Mary Faye Sims Steiger, 86, of Ladson, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Magnolias of Walterboro. She was the widow of Johann H. Steiger.
Born January 2, 1938, in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Dargen Sims and Mary Margaret Boyce Sims. She worked in sales for many years for Lyons Furniture Company and had also worked as a secretary at Asten Hill. She loved creating and selling jewelry. Mary Faye was the recipient of the first liver transplant ever successfully completed at MUSC and in South Carolina over 30 years ago. After the transplant, she became a representative for MUSC as a counselor and formed a transplant survivor support group.
Surviving are: her daughter, Lisa Lyons of Walterboro; sister, Judy Sims Reeves and her husband William of Cottageville; brother, Thomas Dargen Sims, Sr. and his wife Linda of Walterboro; nieces and nephews, Thomas Sims, Jr., Cheryl Fagen, Tony Reeves, Robbie Reeves, Brian Reeves, Christen Felder, and Joshua Felder; and many great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Wesley Shannon Lyons.
A memorial service will be held 2 o’clock, Sunday, January 14, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The family will receive friends following the service.
