Mrs. Mary Margaret Boyce Sims, 93, of 1356 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, December 3, 2008, at her residence surrounded by the family she adored and under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina. She was the widow of Mr. Rufus Dargan Sims.



Funeral services will be conducted 4 oclock Saturday afternoon, December 6, 2008, from Bedon Baptist Church, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro, with The Reverend Eric Bjork officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at the church cemetery.



Mrs. Sims was born November 6, 1915 in Jenson, Florida and was a daughter of the late James Walter Boyce and the late Mary Aretus Baker Boyce. She was a longtime member of Bedon Baptist Church where she was always faithful to the work of the Lord and was active in many aspects of the Churchs work. At her church, she was a member and past President of the Womens Missionary Union and was for many years a Sunday School teacher in the class named after her, the Margaret Sims Class. She was talented with Upholstery work, and was the past owner and operator of Sims Repair Shop, which she operated for many years in a building next to her home. She will be remembered by all for her smile, which showed the love, care, and compassion she possessed for all.



Surviving her are: a son, Thomas D. Sims, Sr. and his wife Linda of Walterboro; two daughters, Mary Faye Lyons Steiger of Ladson and Judy S. Reeves and her husband William of Ridgeville; a son-in-law, Steve Felder of Lake Alfred, Florida; a brother, Hazel Boyce and his wife Pete of Manning; and a sister, Esther Powell of Sumter. There are eight grandchildren that also survive her as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Ann Sims Felder; a son-in-law, a grandson; four brothers; and one sister.
