Mary Ruth Pye Sisk

Mrs. Mary Ruth Pye Sisk, 78, of Cottageville, entered into rest Friday morning, April 18, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Walterboro following an extended illness.  She was the loving wife of fifty-seven years to the late Senior Master Sergeant Delmas Jay Sisk.

Born June 28, 1946, in Cottageville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Henry Joseph Pye and the late Annie Ruth Bailey Pye.  Mary Ruth was a devoted homemaker who centered his life around her loving family.   She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. She shared a loving relationship with her son-in-law with lots of jokes and fun times.

Surviving are: a daughter, Nancy Sisk Gallman and her husband Clint of Walterboro; two grandchildren, Hunter Joseph Spires and Corey Everette Crosby; a step-granddaughter and a great granddaughter; as well as grand dogs, Molly Shea Gallman and Mikell Oliver Gallman; a brother, Mickey Pye and his wife Nancy; a nephew, Mickey Joe Pye and his wife Tina; a great niece, Michelle Pye; a most loved cousin, Caroline Jernigan and her husband Jeff; and many others.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Dianne Sisk; and her niece, Angel Marie Pye.

The family would like to sincerely thank all those who loved and took care of Mrs. Mary Ruth during this time, including, Doctor Robert Thomas; Michelle Spires, NP; her Agape nurses: Abigail Land-Craven, Aimee Applegate, Sue Chewning, Michelle Pye, Kayla Howell Wimberly, Ruth Talbot, and Sinita Akins; a special thanks to Carolina Cook, CNA and her kisses blown each day; as well as her extra caregivers, Sandra Gelzer, Ashley Devlin-Hamilton, Shannon Herr, Dianne Herr, Sister Charlene Drain Karen Beebe Waller, and Breanna “Taco” Werts; and Landon Garvin with CareLink.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, April 26, 2025, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Cottageville Cemetery.
