Mary Lou Grossie

Mrs. Mary Lou Garvin Mock Grossie, 85, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Colleton Medical Center.  She was first married to the late Fonzie Ellis Mock, Sr. and secondly to the late Gerald Grossie.

Born April 15, 1939, in Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Carroll Garvin and Mabel Hoats Garvin.  She enjoyed reading and shopping and was an excellent cook.  She dearly loved her family and loved reading her Bible every day.

Surviving are: her children, James Daniel Mock, Sr. of Walterboro, Mary Ann Long of Walterboro, Rose Marie Moore of Yemassee, and Helen Sauls and her husband Harold of Ridgeland; brother, Robert Carroll Garvin and his wife Patsy of Walterboro; sisters, Rosa O’Quinn of Walterboro and Laura Dell Risher of Walterboro; aunt, Guilda Hoats of Hampton; 11 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Fonzie Ellis Mock, Jr.; sons-in-law, Stanley Moore and Bud Long; great great grandson, Kylin Evans; sisters, Phoebe Youmans and Maybelle Padgett; and a brother, Willie Garvin.

Funeral services will be held 1 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, July 28, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The family will receive friends following the service.
