Biography

Mrs. Mary Ellen Zahler Cook, 59, of London Lane, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Monday, October 24, 2011 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Friday, October 28, 2011 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Zahler Cemetery.

Mrs. Cook was born December 20, 1951 in Walterboro and was a daughter and of the late Tatnell O. Zahler, Jr. and Reba Mae Gooding Zahler. She was a retired Special Education School Bus Driver for Colleton County, where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of Northside Christian Church. She loved working with her crafts and was known for her wonderful cooking at "Cook's Kitchen"; but most of all loved and cherished her family and centered her life around them.

Surviving are: her husband of 42 years, Charles E. Cook, Jr. of Walterboro; children, Charles E. Cook, III and his wife Mary Elizabeth Cook and their children, Candice, Diane and Carrie, Robert F. Cook and his daughter Sierra Denny, Melissa Ann Drawdy and her husband David and their children, CT "Bubba", Tracey and Tiffany Craven; brothers, Tat Zahler and his wife June of Varnville, Horace Zahler of Varnville and Rusty Zahler and his wife Laura of Gaston; sisters, Joyce Ann Frasier and her husband Edward of Walterboro, Carrol Boone and her husband Danny of Varnville, Fay Rosier and her husband Jackie of Nixville, Gay Jarrell and her husband John of Nixville and Janice Adams and her husband James of Nixville; aunt, Terry Thomas and her husband Gary of Highland Park, Illinois; uncle, Randolph Gooding and his wife Peggy of Varnville; and many nieces and nephews.
