Ms. Marvis Kicklighter Polk, 89, of Rum Gully Road, Islandton, entered into her state of eternal rest February 6, 2010 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Monday, February 8, 2010 at Rice Patch Christian Church in Islandton. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Walterboro.
Ms. Polk was born July 22, 1920 in Islandton, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late Jesse Kicklighter and Gereau Owens Kicklighter. She retired from Westinghouse after 45 years. She was a faithful member of Rice Patch Christian Church where she was a past secretary and Adult Sunday School Teacher. She was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Community Chapter, Number 206, one of her greatest joys in life. Giving much of her time to the Eastern Star, Ms. Marvis held many positions including, Past District Deputy, Past Worthy Matron, Past Conductress. Although a member of Community Chapter, she enjoyed visiting many other chapters, filling in where she could and helped new comers learn their positions.
Surviving are; her daughter, Revonda Zellars of Islandton; granddaughter, Lisa Allen and her husband John of Ruffin; brother, Russell Kicklighter and his wife Naomi of Islandton; sisters, Evelyn Lanier of Islandton and Iris Johnson of Islandton; great grandchildren, Kyle, Geoffrey and Cheyenne Allen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Kicklighter.
