Mr. Marvin Sharpe Bell, 71, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 6, 2010, at Colleton Medical Center after an extended illness.



Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Bamberg Church of God, with Reverend Herb Collins and Reverend Susie Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Bamberg County Memory Gardens in Bamberg. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Ronnie Lyons, Jr., Wade Lyons, Jr., Nicholas Nunez, Christopher Simmons, Todd Lyons, Jr., and his close friend, Henry Varn.



Mr. Bell was born May 8, 1939, in Bamberg. He was the son of the late Rochie Bell, Sr. and the late Can Sadie Sharp Bell. He worked for many years at Varnco, Inc. of Ehrhardt, where he forged a lifelong friendship with Henry Varn and his family. He later moved to Pickens where he worked for Alice Manufacturing Company in Easley until his retirement at which time he relocated back to Ehrhardt.



Mr. Bell enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children, family and friends. He also enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1968 during the Vietnam War, 2nd Army Division. Following that, he served in the Army National Guard for several years.



Survivors include his seven children, Lynette (Wade) Lyons of Smoaks, Joanne Lyons of Hampton, Marlene (Larry) Marchyshyn of Islandton, Glenda (Jose) Marmolejo of Camden, Lydia Simmons of Bamberg, Angela (Dave) Raycher of Ohio and Marvin B. Bubba Bell of Pickens. In addition, he is survived by a brother, Rochie (Sandra) Bell, Jr. of Bamberg and a sister, Marie (Otis) Frazier of Barnwell; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and his best friend, Mrs. Ann Bell Beard of Ehrhardt.



He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Bell and Hubert Bell, both of Bamberg; and two sisters, Alma Gillespie of Pickens and Grace Suit of North Carolina.
