Mrs. Martha Frances Huff McLaine, age 81, of Block Barn Lane, Walterboro, entered into her state of eternal rest Saturday evening, July 2, 2011, at her residence. Prior to the death of her husband of fifty-five years, Mr. Robert Preston "Bob" McLaine, Jr. in 2003, she resided on Bishop Street in Walterboro where she began her journey as the dedicated wife and mother that she always be remembered as.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, July 6, 2011, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro, with The Reverend Dr. Theron W. Smith, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.

Mrs. McLaine was born February 8, 1930, in Gadsden, Alabama, and was a daughter of the late Clyde Raymond Huff and the late Tennie Lee Johnson Huff. She was a former employee of Walterboro Family Practice where she was a Receptionist to Dr. Joseph Flowers, and finished her working career with the South Carolina Highway Department, where she was employed in the administrative end of the Maintenance Department until the time of her retirement as Administrator Specialist. In earlier days, she was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks - Walterboro Lodge No. 1988, Walterboro Cross Trailers, as well as various organizations pertaining to pastimes such as square dancing clubs and travel groups. One of her most favorite of those pastimes was camping; she along with her husband were members of the Good Sam Camping Club where they were heavily involved with their membership. She lived by the motto: "Have suit case, will travel", and she would be known to grab an already packed suitcase and hit the road for a trip anywhere without notice.

Surviving are: four sons, Robert Terry McLaine and his wife Elaine, William Michael McLaine and his wife Sharon, Joseph Lee McLaine and his wife Bobbie and Barton Allen "Bubsy" McLaine and his wife Lynda all of Walterboro; and three sisters, Nancy Bampton and her husband Cal of Reading, Pennsylvania, Gwen Crosby of Walterboro, and Judy Berry of Reevesville.
