Martha Heape

Mrs. Martha Bagwell Heape, 72, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Trident Medical Center.

Born February 4, 1952, in Pickens, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Lee Bagwell and Veronica Green Bagwell.  She was a retired nurse having worked at Oakwood Nursing Home in Walterboro, St. George Nursing Home in St. George, as well as various other nursing homes in the Lowcountry.  She was a member of Green Pond Baptist Church.  Martha enjoyed fishing whenever she could, but most of all loved her family and adored her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her husband of 48 years, George Franklin Heape; children, Alicia Heape Rouse and her husband Alan, and Edward Heape and his wife Melissa; grandchildren, Karley Rouse, Hanna Heape, Savannah Heape, Gunner Rouse, Austin Heape; and her beloved chihuahua, Sugar Babe.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Wednesday morning, June 5, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.
