Mr. Marshall William Catterton, Sr., 69, of Charleston Highway in the Mashawville Community of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday morning, January 25, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Monday afternoon, January 27, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Catterton Cemetery, Lonesome Dove Drive, Walterboro.
Born May 25, 1944, a native of Colleton County, he was a son of the late Curtis Catterton and the late Mary Walker Catterton. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was formerly a fireman with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was also employed by Asten Hill in Walterboro. Marshall was a jack of all trades, having accomplished much during his lifetime. He loved flying, and piloting his 1946 Aeronica Chief Tail Dragger was one of his most beloved pastimes along with fishing. He was talented at mechanic work and carpentry and loved animals.
Surviving are: his wife of thirty-seven years, Mrs. Kay Blackburn Catterton; two daughters, Kay Cee Catterton of Walterboro and Hope Catterton Bishop and her husband Jack of Walterboro; and two sons, Marshall William Bubba Catterton, Jr. of Walterboro and Scott Catterton of Walterboro. There are seven grandchildren, Spencer, William, Chandler, Noah, Lana, Faith and Brady as well as his mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Blackburn Goodale of Walterboro that also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dee Dee Catterton; a sister, Thelma Catterton Mire; and a brother, Lewis Jack Catterton, Sr.
