Ms. Marsha Sherill Hughes Bottomley, 62, of Lakeshore Drive, Walterboro, entered into her state of eternal rest Sunday evening, June 6, 2010, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro following an illness and surrounded by loved ones.
A celebration of her life will be conducted 6 oclock Thursday evening, June 11, 2010, from North Walterboro Baptist Church, 2177 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro, with The Reverend Curtis Pettit and The Reverend Jim Stophel officiating. The final commendation and committal ceremony will follow on Friday afternoon, June 12, 2010, at 1 oclock in Southeastern Memorial Gardens, 5000 Highway 17 South, North Myrtle Beach.
The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony in the Narthex of North Walterboro Baptist Church.
Ms. Bottomley was born November 23, 1947, in Columbia, South Carolina and was a daughter of Mr. Ted Hughes and the late Jacqueline Blackmon Hughes. She was a member of Northside Christian Church in Walterboro and was also attending North Walterboro Baptist Church. Marsha was a very loving, compassionate, and caring person, who loved people and animals. Never selfish of materialistic, she enjoyed giving to others and helping in any way she could. She loved making crafts, bird-watching, music, and going to the beach. She was a woman of strong faith and Christian principles.
Surviving are: Her father, Mr. Ted Hughes and his wife, Mrs. Barbara McCarthy Hughes of Walterboro; a son, Ted Bottomley of Columbia; a daughter, Holly Bottomley of Columbia; a brother, Wayne Hughes of Columbia; and a sister, Candace Grant of Walterboro. She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Hughes; and a sister, Melissa Wassing.
