WALTERBORO " Mrs. Marjorie Wood Brown, 81, of 65 Crystal Lane, Walterboro, died Friday morning, November 21, 2008, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. She was the wife of the late Mr. Arnold Theodore Brown.



Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Monday morning, November 24, 2008, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend Jack Padgett officiating. Interment will follow in Great Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Peniel Road, Walterboro.



Mrs. Brown was born August 19, 1927, in Thomson, Georgia and was a daughter of the late Willie Lewis Wood and the late Deryl Inez Jones Wood. She was a homemaker and was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church where she was a former member of the Womens Missionary Union and had been active in several aspects of the Churchs work. She will be remembered for her love of reading.



Surviving are: four sons, Glyn Brown and his wife Carolyn of Summerville, Layton Brown of Walterboro, Keith Brown and his wife Deborah of Summerville, and Charles Brown of Walterboro; a daughter, Constance Connie Bycroft and her husband Ronald of Mount Pleasant; and eight sisters. There are seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers.



In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Great Swamp Baptist Church, 3396 Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
