RHODE, Marion W., Sr.



COTTAGEVILLE- Mr. Marion W. Rhode, Sr., 92, of Cottageville, formerly of North Charleston, died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Colleton Medical Center.



Funeral services will be held 11 oclock, Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at The Brice W. Herndon & Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.



Mr. Rhode was born July 16, 1916 in Colleton County and was a son of the late J.G. Rhode and Mary E. Dandridge Rhode. He was first married to Louise Dandridge Rhode Hiers and secondly to the late Velma Bell Rhode. He was a retired Construction Supervisor for Yeamans Development Company and served his country in the Merchant Marines. Mr. Rhode was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge #400 in Charleston, member of Omar Shrine Temple, member of Royal Order of Jesters and was a Past Captain of the Omar Marching Patrol.



Surviving are: his children, Marion W. Rhode, Jr. and his wife Corey of Cottageville, Raymond O. Rhode and his wife Lynn of Round O, Kathy R. Boyd and her husband Eddie of Charleston and Libby Harmon of Charleston; brother, James G. Jimmy Rhode of Charleston; special friend, Luceil Best of Mount Pleasant; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Rhode.
