Marilyn Doremus

Marilyn June Rentz Doremus, 77, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2026, at Lexington Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Thomas Doremus, Sr.

Born March 6, 1949, in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Claude Harper Rentz and Alberta Strickland Rentz. She worked for many years on the family farm - Doremus Poultry Farm, and retired as a receptionist from Dr. William Glenn’s office. She was a devoted and faithful member of Ehrhardt Southern Methodist Church. Marilyn loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers, doing yard work, and especially baking cakes. Most of all, Marilyn loved her family. She enjoyed spending a her time with her children, her grandchildren whom she adored, her sisters who were her best friends, her church family, and loved having family gatherings where they could all be together.

Surviving are: her children, DeDe Doremus Anderson and her husband Kevin of Williston, Misty Doremus Holland and her husband Chris of Denmark, and Thomas “Tommy” Doremus, II of Ehrhardt; grandchildren, Austin Cope, Cade Cope, Ryley Anderson, Harper McCully, Maddy McCully, and Braylyn Doremus; great grandson, Langston “Lane” Cope; sisters, Claudia Chassereau and her husband Olin of Lexington, Janice Futch and her husband Rhomie of Manning, Debra Russell and her husband Larry of Bamberg, and Kendra Gustafson and her husband Glenn of Ehrhardt; brother, Gregg Rentz and his wife Belinda of Ehrhardt; many cousins, including a special cousin, Esther Rae McMillan of Ehrhardt; brother-in-law, Denny Doremus and his wife Skeet of Irmo; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Martin; and her in-laws, Larry and Virgie Doremus.

Funeral services will be held 3 o’clock, Wednesday afternoon, September 30, 2026, at Ehrhardt Southern Methodist Church, 13667 Broxton Bridge Road, Ehrhardt. Interment will follow in the Rentz Family Cemetery, Howells Mill Road, Ehrhardt.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 2 o’clock until the hour of service in the church sanctuary.
