Biography


Mrs. Marie Blocker Pearce, 80, of 208 Holly Road in Walterboro, entered into her eternal rest Sunday afternoon, March 25, 2012, at her residence in Woodland Terrace under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina. She was the wife of the late Mr. Robert Alzo Pearce.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, March 28, 2012, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro, with The Reverend Bob Craig and The Revered John V. Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.

Mrs. Pearce was born July 5, 1931, in Charleston, and was a daughter of the late Ernest Duncan Blocker and the late Addie Hiott Blocker. For thirty-three years she worked diligently and faithfully for Belk Department Store where she retired as a buyer and she attended the First Baptist Church of Walterboro. She was dedicated to her family always centering her life around those she loved. A gentle and sweet spirited person, she was always willing to give of herself helping those she could with her time, efforts, and finances. She will also be fondly remembered for her talent and skill with crafts, enjoying needle point and crocheting afghans, flower arranging, and tending to her yards.

Surviving are: four children, Robert Ernest "Bobby" Pearce and his wife Barbara of Jacksonboro, Catherine "Cathy" Pearce Tisdale and her husband Jimmy of Manning, Linda Pearce Ritter and her husband Johnny of Walterboro, and David Michael "Mike" Pearce and his wife Sabrina of Walterboro; three brothers, William "Bill" Blocker of Charleston, Charles T. Blocker of Walterboro, and David L. Blocker of Round O; and two sisters, Joyce Blocker Chaplin of Walterboro and Jean Blocker Lewis of Sanford, Florida. There are nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, as well as a special friend, Gail and her beloved Pomeranian Spitz, "Buffie" that also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest D. Blocker; and a sister, Helen Blocker Hewitt.
