Marie Hiers Hickman

Mrs. Rose Marie Cox Hiers Hickman, 64, of Lodge, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at her residence.  She was the wife of the late General Hickman.

Born May 10, 1955 in Green Sea, North Carolina, she was a daughter of Albert Hiers and Mary Raymond Hiers.  She was a seamstress for many years in Lodge, Smoaks and Ehrhardt and was also a cook for many years at Rachel’s Restaurant in Ehrhardt.  Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and daughter.  She enjoyed taking care of children, especially her grandchildren, and also took care of her mother for the last several years.

Surviving are: her son, Joe Rhodes of Lodge; grandchildren, Calliana D. Rhodes and Colton J. Rhodes; brothers, Albert Preston Hiers of Lodge and James Cox of Trenton; and sisters, Rose Mary Carter of Lodge and Alberta Holiday of Manning.  Her mother, Mary Hiers, passed away the following day.  Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Hiers; and sister, Judy Strickland.

Her funeral service, along with her mother, Mary’s, will be conducted at 11 o’clock, Thursday morning, December 12, 2019, at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend Spencer Brothersom officiating.   Her interment will immediately follow in Carter’s Ford Baptist Churchyard, Lodge Highway, Lodge.
