Mrs. Marie Robertson Herndon, 79, of 311 Lemon Road, Walterboro, entered into her state of eternal rest Friday afternoon, December 31, 2010, at the St. George Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Mr. Allen R. Bill Herndon who died in 2004.



Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Monday afternoon, January 3, 2011, from Jones Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church, 320 Jones Swamp Road, Walterboro. Interment will follow in the churchyard.



Mrs. Herndon was born March 1, 1931, in Williams, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late Moten Robertson, who died while she was at a young age, the late Charity Robertson Murdaugh and the step-daughter of Edward Murdaugh. She was a retired cloth grader from CCX in Walterboro and was a member of Smoaks Church of God of Prophecy.



Surviving are: a daughter, Esther H. Jenkins and her husband Milton of Walterboro; a son, Billy Wayne Herndon and his wife Debbie of Walterboro; a brother, Kenneth Murdaugh and his wife Joanne of Walterboro; and two sisters, Vivian Kinard of Smoaks and Roseanne Thompson of Walterboro. There are five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Murdaugh; and three sisters, Elizabeth Valentine, Emaline Smith, and Louise Hiers.



Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that a memorial contribution be directed in her memory to: Jones Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church, 320 Jones Swamp Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.
