Marie Gardner

Mrs. Marie Avant Gardner was born in Colleton County, South Carolina, a daughter of John Fairy Avant and Martha Varn Avant on December 14, 1921 and died on Friday evening, February 20, 2015, while a resident at The Oaks in Orangeburg South Carolina.

She is survived by her daughter Cathy Cole of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, from her marriage to Dallis Burt Cole who died in 1955. She is also survived by Marie Trussell (Terry) of Old Town, Florida and Jimmy L. Gardner (Christa) of Orangeburg South Carolina, children of LW Gardner. Marie Gardner and LW Gardner ware married on March 9, 1963 until his death in 2010. Also surviving are two grandchildren Canetha Trussell Dodd (Daniel) of Washington, D.C. and Tyler L. Gardner of Orangeburg, South Carolina. She is predeceased by her sisters, Nona Thompson and Janie Hiers.

A funeral Service is planned for 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, February 22, 2015, at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro. Visitation with the family will be for one hour before services at the funeral home.
