Mr. Marian Josef Gawel, 71, of Ruffin, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Colleton Medical Center. Mr. Gawel was born September 8, 1940 in Poland and was a son of Ludwik Gawel and Zofia Wieczorek. He was a retired welder and ship fitter.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Martignetti Gawel of Ruffin; children, Marian Gawel, Jr. and wife Suzanne of Rhode Island, Patricia Piros and husband Glenn of Rhode Island, Anne Gawel of Florida, Michael Gawel and wife Toni of Rhode Island, Marjorie Gawel and fiancé© John Mercer of Massachusetts, Janelle Lavoie of Arizona and Garret Lavoie of Kentucky; brothers, Fabian Gawel and wife Vera of South Carolina and Richard Gawel and wife Laura of New Hampshire; sisters, Teresa Glover of New Hampshire, Maria Fisher and husband Tom of Massachusetts, Helena Gawel of New Hampshire and Elizabeth Gwynn and husband Russell of New Hampshire; and 8 grandchildren.
