Mrs. Marguerite O’Quinn Bennett, 87, passed away Wednesday morning, August 12, 2020, at her home in Walterboro while under the care of Amedisys Hospice. She was the loving wife of the late Mr. Thomas Harold Bennett, Sr. to whom she had been married to for sixty-eight years at the time of his death on October 15, 2019.
Born March 1, 1933 she was a daughter of the late Charles Eugene O’Quinn and the late Pearl Luke O’Quinn. She married Thomas H Bennett Sr. on November 16th, 1952. Marguerite lived in different areas of Colleton County her entire life and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Evergreen Christian Church in Walterboro. She will always be remembered as a great southern cook, who took a special joy in preparing for and feeding others. She loved the outdoors, constantly working in her yards and always being seen in her neighborhood on a walk.
Surviving are: a son, Thomas Harold Bennett, Jr. and his wife Terri Ann of Summerton; and a daughter, Cindy Bennett Lyons and her husband Anthony of Walterboro. There are five grandchildren, Leigh Ann Kellam, Leslie Bishop, Hunter Thomas, Laura Bennett, and Maggie Bennett; two step-grandchildren, Jonathan Lyons and Chasity Lyons; five great grandchildren, Thomas, Addison, Layla, Will, and Bennett; and three step-great grandchildren, Taylor, English, and Nathan that also survive along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie O’Quinn; and four sisters, Connie Clonts, Annie Ruth Kinard, Lucy Kubik, and Betty Jean Thompson.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt love and appreciation for Amedisys Hospice for the care and devotion they gave to Marguerite.

Funeral services will be held privately, with only her family in attendance, Friday morning, August 14, 2020, from the graveside at Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro with The Reverend Wayne Lucas officiating.
