Margaret Tripp

September 30, 1942 — June 17, 2015

Mrs. Margaret Smoak Tripp, 72, of Ruffin, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at her residence.  She was the widow of Kenneth Harold Tripp, to whom she was married for 40 years.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 10656 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin.  Interment will follow in Smoak Family Cemetery, Cane Branch Road, Ruffin.  The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10 am until the hour of service at the church.

Mrs. Tripp was born September 30, 1942 in Walterboro and was a daughter of the late Willis Abraham Smoak and Estelle Sarah Iriel Smoak.  For many years, she ran the tobacco farm with her late husband.  She was then a seamstress at Smoaks Manufacturing, worked in the cafeteria at Forest Hill Elementary, and worked alongside her sister, Linda, at the JC Penney Catalog Store in Walterboro.  She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.  Mrs. Margaret dearly loved her family, loved all children and taking care of them, and will always be remembered as a one-of-a-kind person, who was always there for her family.

Surviving are: her daughter, Wanda Tripp Nixon of Ruffin; sisters, Marion Smoak Tripp of Ruffin, Barbara Ann Smoak Nelson of Georgetown, and Linda Diane Smoak of Walterboro; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Ann Tripp; and her brothers, James Willis Smoak, JC Smoak, Norris Gene Smoak, Arnold Ray Smoak, and Little Jack Smoak.
