Mrs. Margaret Louise Gatch, 83, of Pleasant Grove Road near Walterboro, entered into her eternal rest Sunday morning, November 18, 2012, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. Mrs. Gatch was the widow of Mr. Barnard Franklin "Barney" Gatch, Sr., who was the love of her life for fifty-seven years.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, November 21, 2012, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
Born November 4, 1929, a native of Axton, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Ben A. Bennett and the late Beadie Rosine Murry Bennett. Having lived in Charleston for a number of years, she and her family made the Pleasant Grove community of Walterboro their home in June of 1967. She began working for Colleton Regional Hospital where over her tenure there worked as both an admitting clerk and telephone operator before her retirement. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother who always centered her life around her loving family, she will always be remembered for her warm and infectious smile as well as her passion for flowers and humming birds.
Surviving are: her two sons, Barnard Franklin Gatch, Jr. and his wife Jan of Walterboro and Brian Aggie Gatch, Sr. of Walterboro; and two sisters, Bennie Carolyn Freeman and Nell Clark both of Waycross, Georgia. There are eight grandchildren, Angela Gatch Nettles, Elizabeth Ann Gatch, Renelle Newton Herndon, Dawn Newton Hare, Erica Michelle Gatch, Tiffany Eula Gatch, Carrie Rose Gatch, and Brian Aggie Gatch, Jr.; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
