Marceil Turner Mixon

Mrs. Marceil Turner Mixon 93, of Varnville, entered into rest Tuesday morning, March 28, 2023 at the Agape Hospice House of Summerville.

Born December 30th, 1929, a native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Odell Turner and the late Mattie Gosnell Turner. She was a retired secretary of Southern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of multiple Baptist churches including Varnville First Baptist Church where she was active in teaching Sunday School and other activities throughout the years. She graduated from Fairforest High School and was the Valedictorian of her class. She will be remembered for her love of gardening and family.

Surviving are: her son W.R. “Roddy” Mixon, her grandchildren Matthew Mixon, Kelli Mixon Guffey (David) and her great grandchild Theodore Guffey. She was predeceased by her siblings; Earline (Gary) Cheek, Paul (Barbara) Turner, Carol (Ester) Turner, Bill (Dot) Turner, JT (Mavis) Turner, and Clyde (Brenda) Turner.

Flowers will be accepted or for those that wish the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Varnville First Baptist Church, Post Office Box 306, Varnville, South Carolina 29924.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2 o’clock, Friday afternoon, March 31, 2023 at Varnville First Baptist Church, 165 East Palmetto Avenue, Varnville. The Reverend Dr. Thomas Kelly officiating. Internment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Pocotaligo Road, Varnville.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 1 o’clock in the church sanctuary.
