Mr. OQuinn was born January 8, 1940, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Luther Ethell OQuinn and the late Ida Lee Pellum OQuinn Todd. He served his country faithfully from 1960 until 1964 in the United States Air Force. He started with General Telephone Electronics where he worked in various positions over his forty-one year career with them being in charge of office equipment at the time of his retirement when the company had changed their name to Verizon Telephone. Presently he was employed with Colleton Preparatory Academy where he was over maintenance as well as carrying many other responsibilities around the campus. He was a lifelong member of Great Swamp Baptist Church in Walterboro. At his church, he was former member of the Deacon Board, was a member of the Mens Brotherhood group, Sound Director, teacher of the Adult Sunday School Class, and also served in many other numerous capacities with-in the churchs work. He was a former member of the National Rifle Association. He was a master bullwhip maker, avid farmer and master gardener, and beekeeper. Among his favorite pastimes were his passion for hunting large white tail American Deer, fishing the local creeks of Colleton County, and raising Quail. Trowell was a friend to almost everyone he knew. No job was too large or small for him, and never was he called upon for help that he did not do his very best to show others his love for Christ in setting an example of a true Christian to go to his fellow man.
