Mrs. Lucy Mae Pinnix, 82, of 141 Douglas Road, Walterboro, joined her family in paradise Friday morning, June 26, 2009, at the Roper Hospital in Charleston following an extended illness. She was married to the late Mr. Clifton Thomas C.T. Pinnix.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 oclock Monday morning, June 29, 2009, at Great Swamp Baptist Church, 3396 Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Pinnix was born May 16, 1927, in Mount Airy, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Fred Cockerham and the late Eva Galyean Cockerham. She was a retired weaver from J. P. Stevens in Walterboro and had also worked for Smoaks Dress Plant. She was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church and will be fondly recalled for the love she had for gardening as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are: two sons, Steve Pinnix and Tony Pinnix, both of Walterboro; three daughters, Vickie Bonner and Janie OQuinn, both of Walterboro and Wanda Mitchell of Spartanburg; and two sisters, Juanita Tysor Steele of Stokesdale, North Carolina and Jean Sharpe of Myrtle Beach. There are nineteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by a grandson.
