Lucille Johnson Padgett

January 4, 1930 — January 13, 2016

Mrs. Lucille Johnson Padgett, affectionately known as “Mammie”, age 86, entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Lodge under the care of Hospice of Charleston.  She was the widow of Mr. Howell Padgett.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, January 16, 2016, from the graveside at Little Swamp United Methodist Churchyard in Smoaks.

The family will be at the home of Roy and Susie Padgett, 219 Azalea Drive, Walterboro.

Born January 4, 1930 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Nellie Johnson.  Mrs. Padgett had a special talent and appreciation for arts and crafts. She will always be remembered for centering her life around her family, and the love she possessed for all animals, especially her dogs “Snoopy” and “Rita”.  She was a member of Lodge United Methodist Church.

Surviving are: her son Roy Howell Padgett and his wife Susie of Walterboro; and two grandchildren, Kaelyn Hoats and Stacie Padgett Goethe and her husband Clint. She is survived by a host of friends whom she loved and considered family, Carroll and Jenny Hoats, Jason Hoats, Ashley Hadwin, Ricky Ryan, Mickey Ryan, and Judy Cook.   She was preceded in death by her two infant children; brother, Ken Bacot; and two sisters, Frances Hall and Mildred Bacot and her daughter,

Debbie.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Staff of Hospice of Charleston and nurses Melanie Hoats Layden and Chellie Smith for the love and support given to Mrs. Lucille and her family during her illness

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
