Lucille Bostwick

Lucille Passmore Bostwick, 94, formerly of Charleston passed away peacefully Friday, March 3, 2017.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church, 1601 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Charleston.  A private family interment will follow.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation Saturday from 10 am until the hour of service at the church.

Born May 31, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Grace Passmore.  She led a full life after coming to Charleston from Oklahoma City, OK when she was 13 years old.  She graduated from the College of Charleston and retired from teaching at North Charleston Elementary. Her husband, the late J. W. Bostwick, took a job at the Pearl Harbor Navy Base and for four years she lived in Hawaii before returning back to Charleston where she enjoyed painting, tennis, dancing and swimming.  Sullivan’s Island was her favorite beach to swim. She also enjoyed her bridge club and loved singing in the choir at Grace United Methodist Church.  She will be fondly remembered for her crabbing excursions with her grandson.

She is survived by one grandson, Jay Hiers and his wife Pam of Ehrhardt; a great-grandson, Jace Hiers; great- granddaughter, Laya Hiers; and many nieces and nephews as well as great and great great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, James W. Bostwick, Jr.; her daughter, Dolores A. Bostwick; and her son, James (Jim) W. Bostwick, III.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lucille’s name to Grace United Methodist Church, 1601 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407; or Regency Hospice, 1890 St. Matthews Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118.
